PTAA All - Ireland U-18 Quiz final April 2016

Pres Athenry had a very successful day at the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association (PTAA) All-Ireland U-18 Quiz Final, held in Pallasgreen, Co. Limerick at the end of April. For the first time ever, 3 teams from PCA qualified for the national final, having all finished in the top 4 teams at the Connacht decider at the end of March. After a closely-fought contest, the team of Paddy Fitzpatrick, Cian Garman, Eoghan O'Kelly, Michael Rice and Liam Wilkinson secured the title for the school, Pres Athenry's first PTAA crown since 2013, with the teams of Imy Lundon, Pádraig Kelly, Emma Urquhart and Seán Noonan and Jack Miskella, Conor Sheehan, Seán Garman and Ethan Wilkinson doing brilliantly to finish in 3rd and 6th places respectively. Well done to one and all and also to teacher Mr. Niall Duddy.,

Primark Legend Breege O’Donoghue speaks to Business students April 2016

This week at an assembly arranged by Teacher, Mr. Cotter; the Group Director of Primark, Mrs. Breege O’ Donoghue met with our business students to share some stories and advice from her 50 years involvement in the business arena.  Breege, was born in Boston, Co. Clare and gained a great deal of experience in the hospitality and retail industry before becoming Group Director of Primark Stores. At the age of 72, Breege is the driving force behind many of Primark’s departments and has recently spearheaded the company’s successful expansion into new European and USA markets.
Students were advised to focus on achieving their full potential while in the educational system and their hard work would be rewarded.

Breege was presented with some very special locally crafted gifts including a hand painted portrait, a bainin woolen hat and a kiln-dried wooden photoframe.
